$100.9 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

Jeb Bush announced Friday the award of $100.9 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to fund critical recovery needs in counties affected by the 2004 hurricanes, including five in Central Florida. The funding will aid in the repair or replacement of public infrastructure, provide housing and boost local economies, Bush says in a written release. Eligible applicants may submit applications for disaster related recovery projects. Grants in the amount of $9 million each were given to Charlotte, St. Lucie, Indian River, Escambia, DeSoto, Santa Rosa and Hardee counties. Grants totaling $4. more...
